Goals
My project has evolved a lot of the curse of the year...
Initially my goals were:
- Find a mentor - Sign up for EMT classes - Take the classes - Take the EMT test and become a certified EMT Realizing that becoming an EMT would be to rigorous for me with sports.. My goals changed to: - Finding a project for me - Finding a mentor for that project Finally I found PT My final goals were, - Study at Marathon for at least 20 hours - Get a good sense of what it takes to become a PT - Figure out if the medical/health field was the right path - Learn a lot about many different ailments |
Timeline
1. First, finding a mentor was a real struggle for me. It took me about a month to actually figure out what my project was going to be, then about another month after that to actually get a mentor.
2. Once I actually had a mentor, who was another physical therapist from Marathon named Jaquelyn I only got to shadow her once. Sadly she had to leave the state for a new job opportunity so she could no longer be my mentor.
3. Thankfully Jaquelyn was nice enough to set me up with another PT from Marathon, so I could keep my project going. My new Mentors name is Rebecca McVay.
4. Molding my project every time I went to Marathon, me and my mentor figured out what I was going to do for sort of a final project. Something that I could do to show what I have accomplished throughout this year. This being the case study.
5. Right around this time I ended up completing my fist two benchmarks. Completing 10 hours of work, and finding out how my project is going to come together I thought were good attainable goals for a part of the year.
6. After this I continued to work at Marathon every week, and set two new benchmarks which were completing the 20 hour minimum and starting to work on my case study before the end of February break.
7. Going to Marathon just about every week for about 2-3 hours put me over the 20 hour mark, and I completed half of my 2nd set of benchmarks. While completing this, I was Independently gathering research and starting to put together some note pages on tow walking for my case study.
8. Lastly, as of right now I am still working on that case study as well as going to Marathon about once a week and learning as much as I can to help benefit both my case study but also my knowledge about the field.
